In this Residency period I am continuing my performance research exploring the materiality of the body and objects. Looking at connections between felt and imaginative states and an outer sensory terrain, seeking an understanding of our environment through this exchange. I am currently interested in the body as a site of knowledge and transformation. Other themes of interest are around habitat and adaption.
For this Residency week I will be working in collaboration with sound artists Shirley Pegna and Robin Foster and with Filmmaker Dani Landau.
Beginning this week with Shirley Pegna and an opportunity to open my ears and perception to the world of sound and sonic phenomena. Fascinating stuff.
Currently there are three performative frames for our explorations and within these –
1. We have been diving below the surface tuning into and recording sound emanating from the body, the respiratory, digestive systems, soft tissue and heartbeat.
2. We are recording and playing with sound sourced from various objects and material via a range of actions.
3. Drawing on pre existing low frequency / vibration sound recordings Shirley has made of external urban and rural environments.
Showing from Residency with Robin Foster.
