A Community Shelter, is a collaborative print project which connects artists with 5 individual community groups around Bristol. Through printing lino cut images of objects, stories and memories of home participants explored their personal relationships with objects and place. Each community group has created a group tent depicting these stories.
Four artists; Charlotte Biszewski, Alex Goodman, Luke Carter and Dean Ayotte, have been working with 5 different groups; Knowle West Media Centre, Avonmouth Community Centre, The Studio Upstairs, Borderlands and See it from Her. The aim of this project has been to involve a range of participants in the process of considering their own home and opening up a dialogue between groups.
Members of the public and participants are invited to explore inside and out of the tents, exploring the stories shared through the prints. Come see the stories and images, and have a go at printing on a tent.
