February 20, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - February 25, 2017 @ 5:00 pm
Private View – Monday 20th February 12.00 to 13.30 for Press & Campaign Stakeholders by Invitation Only
Cause and Complexity is an awareness raising multimedia exhibition to launch Bristol Homelessness Awareness Week 2017. The citywide campaign of events is organised by the Bristol Homeless Forum whose members include Bristol City Council, The Julian Trust, St Mungo’s, Emmaus, Shelter, Caring in Bristol, Crisis Centre Ministries, Golden Key, Keep Bristol Warm and more.
The exhibition aims to engage both artist and viewer with the diverse causes and often complex circumstances which can lead to and perpetuate homelessness.
In a range of media from ceramics, collage, illustration, installation, paint, print, photography and film, Cause and Complexity is a direct and creative response from local artists, to raise awareness of homelessness in Bristol.
Bristol Homelessness Awareness Week 2017 aims to raise awareness of homelessness, those at risk of becoming homeless, and the issues facing rough sleepers.
This year the specific focus is on help. We will do this in two ways:
• Engage with people who want to help – by promoting volunteering and fundraising opportunities.
• Reach out to people who need help – by highlighting the importance of early intervention and persuading people to access the support they need.
The aim will also be to encourage people to look out for each other, spot the early warning signs, and take action.
