Creative Pattern Cutting
December 9 @ 6:15 pm - 8:45 pm
Level: Beginners – Intermediate
Monday 18th November – 16th December 2019 (5 weeks)
Monday 6.15 – 8.45 p.m.
(Max of 5 students)
Although fashion design drawings are a good indicator for a final product, the technical aspects of pattern cutting have just as important influence in how a final garment looks and can be an equally creative process.
Initially working half scale you will learn exciting ways to develop your ideas through a range of pattern cutting processes. The remainder of the course will be about applying the techniques learnt to create full scale patterns for your own ideas.
Depending on prior experience and expectations you may use your own blocks, ones provided by me or may have a commercial (shop bought) pattern you wish to adapt or develop. We can discuss this during the first two weeks of the course.
Students will be of various levels but with a maximum of 5 students in the class, you can progress at your own pace and will receive lots of 1:1 support and guidance, as well as be challenged in a way the is suitable for your level.
You will need to provide:
All equipment, pattern cutting paper and calico for half scale toiles are provided. Later on in the course you may need to provide calico or other suitable fabric for making full scale toiles (mock ups). You might find it useful to bring a notebook and wallet to store hand-outs and patterns.
Following on from this course you might like to attend the ‘Cut Make and Trim’ sewing course.
1:1 consultations & tutorials also available by arrangement
