Witch: Unburied, Unburnt, Unbound
April 25 @ 7:00 am - 9:00 pm
What does the word Witch mean to you? Do you think of cackling hags stirring smoking cauldrons or conjuring demons? Do you think of modern Wicca and incense and colourful candles? Or black lipstick and tarot cards? Or does it drag you into history to the countless women accused and burned to death for being different, for being powerful, for being knowledgeable, or just for being women, not forgetting, of course – although it was estimated that around ninety percent were women – that men were also killed, especially for being queer or different from the expected norm.
‘Witch; Unburied, Unburnt, Unbound’ seeks to immerse you in an atmospheric dream-like ritual and theatrical interpretation and expression of the witch. Let us take you on a journey through time, into the darkness and suffering of our ancestors. Here we embrace the shadows and create the space for you to explore your own connection with the archetypes of the witch. This will not be a clear cut or chronological story; more a tapestry of ideas, movement, spoken word and ceremony.
Set in the Basement of The Island
