Join Black* Artists On The Move and the Lord Mayor of Bristol Cleo Lake for the inaugural Family Jonkanoo Costume Festival! The roots of Jonkanoo go deep into West African masquerade tradition and fuze with European elements. Rebecca Jo Lesley will be exhibiting her entire collection of work in the Great Hall of Arts Mansion. This will be her second solo exhibition and will include contemporary portrait paintings and a short surreal film which was commissioned by Channel 4 Random Acts. She will create more figurative surreal paintings in the mansion during her residency and will host free workshops throughout the month. During the second world war, Ashton Court Mansion was used as an army transit base and the last balls held by the Smyths of Ashton Court saw the house transformed with jazz and GIs.
