Lois Jackson-Baker is a freelance seamstress, she started as a self taught clothing designer and maker of men’s and women’s clothing. She was then hired by the Bristol based independent clothes shop That Thing (formally known as shop Dutty) helping to fuse fashion, street wear, vintage and customised clothing.
Her passion then moved towards costume making after working alongside The Invisible Circus on various shows in and around Bristol. Her most recent involvement was with the Bristol Old Vic’s rendition of Sleeping Beauty.
Lois also manages the project Stitch-Up Studios which is a sewing workshop space and a hub of practitioners in the heart of The Island. Freelance seamstresses and costumiers can benefit from shared resources and opportunities to work creatively together and learn from each other.
