Suspension Fitness is a workout system that leverages gravity and your body weight to perform a wide variety of exercises. You are in control of how much you want to challenge yourself on each excercise because you can simply adjust your body position to add or decrease resistance.

About your Trainer:

Lucy is a Personal Trainer qualified at Level Three on The Register of Exercise professionals. She has worked in the fitness industry since 2006 delivering high quality group excercise classes and Personal Traning. She specialises in Sports Specific Fitness and postural improvement teaching Yoga and Pilates.

Fitness Pilates

Maximize the results from your exercise with Fitness Pilates, a modern research based workout based on the teaching of Joseph Pilates.

This workout is challenging yet safe building strength from the inside out by targeting deep postural muscles to improve muscle tone and give you great posture. Exercises are non impact and performed in standing, seated and lying positions with the focus on body alignment and core stability.

Pilates with a smile! Small class size enabling personal attention to help you progress. No two sessions will be the same, you can expect to become confident with basic Fitness Pilates sequences which we will develop and progress as you get stronger.

Fitness Pilates will:

Tone and strengthen your whole body. Creating a flatter midsection and long lean muscles.
Reduce your risk of injury by offsetting muscular imbalances.
Help your body move optimally in sport daily and activities.
Improve your flexibility, Mobility, Co-ordination, Agility and Balance.
Energize your body through slow breathing technique used throughout the class.
Leave you feeling relaxed and revitalized.
What to bring with you:
An exercise or Yoga mat – If you have knee issues a thicker mat is recommended as the class includes some kneeling positions. Bring some water to keep well hydrated during your workout.

Level:
Mixed ability progressions and adaptations are made to suit all fitness levels. Please note this is a not a remedial Pilates class, Fitness Pilates is a dynamic workout designed for the healthy adult.

Hatha Flow Yoga at The Dance Space at The Island

Hatha Flow Yoga

Hatha Flow is a dynamic form of yoga, with asana body postures threaded together on the breath.

Combining elements of Ashtanga and Hatha yoga, this practice builds strength and agility while having the calming effects of a moving meditation.

This class explores mini sequences in depth by slowing down key asana transition(s) and focusing on alignment.

What to expect from the course: Build strength, increase flexibility, develop body

awareness, experience mental clarity and relax.

The practice is different every week!

What to bring with you: Several mats are available but if you have your own please bring it

Aerial Rope/Corde Lisse

Info on the class: A long rope hanging from the ceiling can be used in an astonishing variety of ways! Aerialists climb the rope and perform beautiful fluid sequences of moves using strength, flexibility, and technique.

What to expect from the course: In this class we learn the fundamentals of corde lisse technique though a variety of climbs, figures, and locks, moving onto drops, slides, rolls and sequencing. Training and conditioning exercises allow you to get accustomed to being in the air and build strength gradually, moves are taught at levels suitable for the individual. A full physical warm up and stretch down at the end are included.

What to bring with you: Easy to move in sports clothes which cover the stomach and legs well. Several layers are good ( you may like to experiment with two layers of tights/leggings/trousers). Water, a notebook if you like.

Level: Mixed level, beginners welcome.

Silks Class at The Island

Silks (beginners) with Rada

Come and learn to fly with the Queen of the Skies! Aerial silks is the art of climbing up a long piece of fabric and using it to suspend your body in mid-air. Aerialists use the fabric to wrap, suspend, fall, swing, and spiral their bodies into and out of various positions.

What to expect from the course: The class consists of stretching and conditioning the body for aerial work, and a fun-filled hour on the silks. Expect to work hard, get fit and make some great friends!

What to bring with you: Please bring a bottle of water, wear leggings and a stretch top or leotard.

Level: Beginner 6-8pm Wed and Thursday

Corde Lisse at The Island

CIRCUS TRAINING SPACE: Corde Lisse Class

Acrobatic movement and drops on a rope.

What to expect from the course: It is a fun, energetic class that will increase your physical fitness, upper body strength and flexibility. New and innovative aerial vocabulary is taught, there is space for individual creativity as well as group and individual routines and aerial conditioning to increase and challenge your stamina! All in a relaxed and friendly environment!!!

What to bring with you: wear several thin layers. leggings under track suit bottoms, catsuit if you have and thin long sleeve top. Rosin if you have some.
